Drawing girls is not that easy, and it's something I've tried to brush up on this past year. At the 2008 Comic Con in San Diego, I did a few sketches to sell while at the show. These were just for fun to practice, and I came across them yesterday while cleaning out some boxes, so I figured I'd share them here.
WARNING: naked lady drawing below

Drawing women is a separate mentality and skill, in a way, and I always feel it's important to work on our weaknesses. Women make me weak, and drawing them is not easy... hwah ha ha.
These drawings came on the heels of some other drawings of the feminine variety, also done for Comic Con. These were staple-bound as a small sketchbook. I still have a dozen or so left, if anyone is interested. Here are some samples of the drawings in that compilation:

ReplyDeletechicks are cool!!
ReplyDeleteawesome work, my fav is the one with the panda.
Drawing women may be harder for you, but your drawings make it appear easy. Thanks for sharing the babes.
ReplyDeletefantastic work love it!
ReplyDeleteThose are great Joe- especially #2 & 3 from the top.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you tryin' out the sexy girls, Joe. Good stuff
ReplyDeleteI guess it would help if you ask yourself the question: How do I want my girl(s) to be?
ReplyDeleteSexy or childish?
A cartoon or a caricature?
Sweet or tough?
Manga, retro, realistic, fashionable?
Looking at all these girls I would say that number 3 is the most coherent in style and structure.
My first thought when I saw number 4 was: she's very sweet, but she's got the legs of a pig...
Oh yeah, another thing: don't draw their feet too big...
Just keep drawing and don't weaken yourself too much;-)
This is Great Work !!!!
ReplyDeleteI love .. ;) !
awesome work joe.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the girl leaning back on her hands with the brown cami on. Terrific pose with all the weight captured perfectly, well balanced and exaggerated by the heavier legs. Excellent. You might make a go of this art thing after all. :)
ReplyDeleteThe one at the top w/ sunglasses, is that Angelina Jolie?
ReplyDeleteHi Joe, Boy am I glad to have discovered YOUR blog! I just blew an hour browsing through your pages and I'm still not done. I have to get back to work!
ReplyDelete( I like the girl with the panda)
its awesome work.......
ReplyDeleteHi joe
ReplyDeleteI'm a skateboarder with a hobby in skateboard graphic painting. I'm fairly good but still need some help. i have run out of ideas untill i hit your blog. i was wondering, accually hoping that you would alow me to use some of your great artwork on a board i am doing. im not getting any real profit just money for spray paint and tape. i go around skate parks and look for people to sell boards for about 20 bucks a pop and thats it. i am going to make three boards all using your art work. i did see some of your stuff at comic con while looking for more ideas. So i found you on here.If your looking for money from me to use your art work you hit a dead end. im sorry its just that i dont have big bucks. just a few ones here and there after i buy the deck, paint and tape. i would be happy to send you a board through the mail when i finish no cost of course. I would understand if you dont want me using you artwork on some amature board. it was just a thought. please respond back. -Blayne Wiese
