These sketches were drawn live during the summer of 2006, nearly a year ago. I was traveling across the country and drawing at various theme parks, and these are some of the ones that I thought were okay at the time, but now feel that they need improvement. This probably represents the average sketch I was doing at the time.

do you usually follow a particular formula according to features of the person's face, or is it a mix of improvisation and inspiration from other artist's styles? i'm a caricaturist up in myrtle beach and i went along with a fairly formulaic approach to drawing faces until recently. now i kind of use a mix of my old formula, improv, my own unique twist, and inspiration from fellow artists like yourself. thanks for keeping the blog updated joe. - david hammond
