I completely forgot about this Supergirl sketch when posting the girls I worked on this year (she's pretty butch, right? I figured if she's SUPERgirl, then... well, anyway...).
This was done in early summer (08) when I was working on the female side of sketching, and I found it while grabbing some final images to my sketchbook, being published in February by Art Squared. It was done on a Wacom Cintiq using Adobe Photoshop. I would love to do a series of these soon, perhaps for a smaller sketchbook. Drawing women is tough, but they sure are nice to look at!

hi sir,
oh!my god!!
this is amazing!the perspective view is great it makes the drawing more stylish.i think you should give us some sketching podcasts so we can see you drawing & teaching us like your previous podcast ya! ya! i know you have give us REAJECT VIDEO but they are about caricature and we did not hear your kind words .please please its a humble request. we know you dont have much time for us but for learner like me it will be great help.
thankyou sir!!
Hey Joe... Great coloring! She's kinda butch, but in a sexy way? That hand looks really strong. I'm really diggin' the perspective on that boot.
This is a very tricky thing to pull off. I know I'm not very good at the the ladies. (I mean drawing them of course!) Good foreshortening and I like the minimal color. My only crit for this one is, to me, you could eliminate some of the lines on the forearm back and face. I know she's muscular, but I think in this context it kind of hurts the drawing.
I like the series though and look forward to more.
Great stuff, as always, Joe. Are you using models, photo reference, or neither? As you've said, women are tough to draw, and I doubt I could do it without reference.
man hands!
She makes Chyna look feminine...
Good girls!
very good girl!great coloring, I like!
Great stuff! I recognize her, it's Hancock's wife... :)
I love this supergir, although it gives me a bit of fear his direct look. Excellent.
Happy Christmas!
very cool blog :)
Really different from you. Nicly done. Joe I wish you Happy New Year.
She looks very approachable.
great perspective and the skirt is Great, but i don't think the butch look really works here. the extra lines seem to be the problem. maybe not so much the muscle defining ones, but on her face and her arm, they really detract from the sexyness. nice clean colors too.
it's an ambitious experiment. i applaud the attempt.
hi sir,
where are you?no blogging?
All the best in the New Year for no missed opportunity for a great work, good health, success and prosperity.
take care!!
She looks more fit then Christopher Reeve and Dean Cain put together
